Traditional Education
Since I was six years old, I have known only one type of education. It is where I go to school, and learn directly from the teacher. In 2020, when COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, it was the first time I knew the terms "online education" and "traditional education". In this essay, I will talk about the reasons why I prefer traditional education, in addition to information about it.
Traditional education is the opposite of online education. It has many names. Including: traditional learning, face-to-face learning, in-person learning, and on-site learning. Traditional education can be defined as the learning process that takes place in a school, specifically in the classroom. It involves direct interaction between the students and the teacher on the one hand, and between the students themselves on the other. During the epidemic, schools switched to online education instead of traditional education. It was a unique experience. Undoubtedly, I encountered many difficulties. But it made me feel the importance of traditional education in my life as a student. I prefer traditional education because it teaches discipline. It allows me to receive knowledge directly from the teacher. When there is a point I do not understand, I can ask the teacher about it at the same moment. In traditional education, the teacher can evaluate us and give us accurate feedback on our performance in school. When there is a topic with different points of view, I can discuss it with my fellow students face to face. Moreover, doing activities in groups is easier in traditional education. Another thing that distinguishes this type of education is that it does not depend on the internet. This means that the learning process will not stop when the internet is interrupted. Traditional education improves my personality. It teaches me teamwork, self-confidence, communication skills, working under pressure, and respecting school rules.
The many advantages of traditional education do not mean that online education is completely disadvantageous. It cannot be denied that without online education, we would not have been able to pursue our education at home. But traditional education remains, in my own view, the education that students really need, and for which schools and their facilities exist.
