Money Runs the World

I heard this statement from my teacher while we were studying history. She started discussing the origin of building and establishing any country. She said that there is one, ultimate element behind having a strong country which is the “Economy”. Obviously, the economy refers to money. This essay shows how Raneem and her friends understood the concept and applied it accordingly.

We started to understand the importance of money in grade 3. Our school created a simplified system for us to invest in our expenses. Basically, the idea revolves around handing in 1 to 2 dollars at the beginning of the school year, and after each semester the student will receive up to 10 dollars. This system widens our horizons and opens for us the door for getting benefits out of the amount of money that we have. Another thing, there is a special event each year which aims to teach us how to buy and sell products regardless of their type. The event is made of small booths among more than one branch; they are small, temporary tents for selling products, providing information, or any type of service. At our school, they ask us to bring homemade dishes, and we are required to sell them to students at a specific price, or if we are talented at doing something such as making soaps or making drawings, we can bring it and provide it for students at school. I tried this last year. My friend Sara and I shared the same booth and we agreed on preparing desserts. We prepared French toast topped with Nutella and fruits. It was appetizing.

I recommend all schools to dedicate a free- day for their students in order to learn these significant, soft skills. Money management saves lives that’s why we have to learn it at a young age.
