Theft
Social scourges negatively affect individuals and society. Examples of them include: assault on public property, drug use, and smoking. Theft is one of these scourges too. In this essay, I will talk about it and its negative aspects. In addition to ways to combat it.
Theft is taking something from its owner, or from the person who keeps it, without their prior permission. It is also depriving someone of something he owns, by taking it from him without his consent. Theft has many types that differ from each other depending on what is being stolen. An example of these types is plagiarism, in which a person steals the ideas and information of another person, and attributes them to him as the original owner. Another type is shoplifting, which is defined as taking goods from stores without paying for them. On the other hand, the internet is used in cyber theft to steal data of others, such as financial and personal data, and to use it unlawfully. Theft is an unacceptable act, regardless of its motives, because it deprives a person of the things he owns, which may be very important to him. There are many motives for stealing, such as unemployment, poverty, peer pressure, addiction, and other social problems. Theft does not only affect individuals. Its negative influence also includes society and the thief himself. For individuals, stealing may make them lose faith in others, and feel fear all the time. As for society, a state of chaos and insecurity may prevail, and more crimes will spread. On the other hand, the thief suffers ostracism by the family and the community, and people fear his presence around them all the time.
Theft should not be left unsolved. Because this may cause more problems and crimes. Awareness campaigns should be conducted about theft and its negative effects. People should also be made aware of ways to protect their property from theft, in addition to solving the problems of poverty and unemployment.
