Decision-Making
Our school held a lecture for high school students on the best ways to make a decision. The purpose of that extracurricular activity was to develop our decision-making skills because we will start a new phase in life after graduation and joining universities. In this essay, I will talk about the useful things I learned from that lecture. In addition to its impact on my life.
Our lives largely depend on decisions. Making the right decisions helps avoid problems. On the other hand, making the wrong decisions leads to big problems. Before making any decision, it must be well studied and sufficient information must be collected. This step is important because it protects from blindly making wrong decisions. The next step is to seek advice from people with experience and people we trust. Their opinions may make us see aspects that we cannot see ourselves. Such aspects may be crucial and cannot be ignored. Furthermore, the teacher told us in the lecture that we have to imagine the scenarios that might happen after making each decision. This step is essential for mental preparation. Another thing to consider is making sure that our decisions will not cause problems for others, and that they are in our best interest in the short and long term. Decisions should not be rushed. We have to take our time to think about all aspects. Including the negatives and the positives. Moreover, we must think seriously and realistically. Emotions in such cases must be controlled because they can make us make wrong decisions. The penultimate step is defining what will follow the decision-making. Whether this decision is right or wrong. Finally, we make the decision after following all the previous steps. We have to keep calm no matter the outcome, and remember that life is full of other options if we make the wrong decision.
I learned from the lecture that wrong decisions do not mean the end of the world. Sometimes, mistakes teach us valuable lessons that we need most in our lives. Such mistakes make us stronger and wiser. They also help us make the right decisions next time.
