Home Quarantine
Infectious diseases threaten people's lives. One method to prevent the spread of infection due to these diseases is home quarantine. In this essay, I will talk about home quarantine, and its procedures. In addition, I will talk about one experience in home quarantine, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world.
Home quarantine is a set of procedures that aim to protect people from infectious diseases that are transmitted to them due to contact with infected people. In home quarantine, the patient is isolated alone. He is prevented from direct physical contact with healthy people. Home quarantine can take place at home or in a hospital. Either way, the patient stays in his own room and uses a separate bathroom. When a doctor or anyone enters his room for any reason, he must wear a mask and protective clothes. These clothes must be tossed off after leaving the room, and hands must be washed thoroughly. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. At that time, one of my relatives was infected with COVID-19 and he was quarantined at home for 25 days. I asked him what he was doing during the quarantine. He told me he spent time doing things like reading, meditating, and watching TV. When he was feeling lonely, he would call his family and friends via video chat. He also said that the home quarantine experience was difficult. However, it saved the lives of the people dear to him, and helped him recover from the disease.
When infectious diseases break out, home quarantine becomes a must, not an option. Everyone must be responsible and help infected people to adhere to home quarantine. We should not interact with patients without protection. Underestimating this procedure may threaten the lives of many because people differ in their ability to resist diseases.
