Nursing Profession

I haven't decided yet which major to study at the university. One option I'm considering is nursing. I went to a nursing college to inquire and gather enough information. They gave me brochures about the nursing profession. In this essay, I will talk about the interesting information that I learned. In addition to the importance of nursing in our life.

The nurse is called the "angel of mercy." This is because she plays a significant role in treating and caring for patients. A nurse is a person with medical training that qualifies her to care for patients. Before becoming a nurse, you must study nursing at a university. The duration of studying ranges from 3 to 4 years. The nurse builds up medical knowledge through various classes. Such as: human anatomy, human physiology, nutrition, healthcare ethics, psychology, and biology. I used to think that the hospital was the only place where a nurse could work. But it turns out that she works in other places. Such as emergency rooms, patients' homes, public health clinics, schools, military bases, nursing homes, birthing centers, hotels, companies, and rehabilitation centers. In one of the brochures, I found a long list of the nurse's responsibilities. Some of the responsibilities that caught my attention were: following up on symptoms, recording medical history details, caring for wounds, operating and monitoring medical equipment, educating patients and their families, and conducting medical procedures. Being a nurse is difficult. Nurses go through challenging situations and work hard every single day. For this, there are qualities that a nurse must have. Such as patience, empathy, time management, endurance, attention, prioritization, flexibility, confidence, and emotional intelligence. These qualities enable the nurse to properly handle critical situations. Especially those that may pose a threat to the life of patients.

In my personal view, nurses are just as important as doctors. The nurse does not only provide healthcare to the patient. She provides psychological and moral support. Not only for the patient, but for his family and people close to him as well. We have to be thankful that nurses are in our lives. And thankful for the efforts they make to alleviate the pain and suffering of patients at all times.
