English

English is an international language, and it is spoken by most countries around the world. It is used and taught at schools, universities, and some companies and institutions. Nowadays, it is a must to speak more than your target language. English is your key to entering the world and communicating with people among cultures.

My mother keeps insisting on us to work on our English. We study at a private school in Amman, Jordan, and it is really good. Our English teacher is called Lozana. She is so kind and has great teaching skills. At the very beginning, she started switching between English and Arabic in the class, but after a while, she realized that it would be better not to use the mother tongue within the session because we are not going to remember the English words. We tend to catch the Arabic words since our Arabic memory is stronger. My brother Laith and I learned many things from teacher Lozana, but still, we cannot utter clear words that’s why our mother is thinking of letting us join an English club in order to practice the language with native speakers. We joined a course last week, it was really practical, and what I liked the most is that we don’t use books, and we don’t memorize words. They let us draw, play, and do many activities but in English. We go there three times a week after school. I feel that I am getting better at participating in classes. I think getting the language by doing daily, real activities is the best. I started to switch with my family. For instance, I stopped saying: ”ماء“ now, I say “water”.

Learning English is not difficult, but it needs commitment. Practice it every day, so it become part of your journey.
