Eid al-Adha

There are special days that we celebrate once a year. On these days, we engage in activities that make us happy and strengthen our family bonds. Eid al-Adha, which is celebrated by the adults and the children, as well as the rich and the poor, is an example of these days. It is a significant occasion for Muslims of all nationalities and origins. In this essay, I will write about my experience in the last Eid al-Adha, and why I look forward to it every year.

Every year, on the tenth day of the month of Hajj, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha. It is a special day for them, because it is the memory of Prophet Ibrahim story, when he saw in a dream that he was sacrificing his son, the Prophet Ismail, peace be upon them. On Eid al-Adha, Muslims sacrifice animals such as sheep, camels, and cows, and distribute the meat to the relatives and poor people. They also keep a portion of the meat for their families to eat. About my experience in the last Eid al-Adha, it was wonderful like every year. My family and I woke up about an hour before Fajr prayer. The first thing my siblings and I did was wishing our parents a happy Eid. After that, we all got dressed and went out to perform Eid prayer in a field near the mosque. Everyone there was happy. After the prayer, we returned to the house, and began preparations for the sacrifice. My father brought the sheep, and laid it in the prayer direction, before saying the Basmala "Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem", and offering the sacrifice. Then, we put the pieces of meat in bags, and my siblings and I went to distribute it to neighbours, relatives, and the poor people. In the evening, we dressed in our finest clothes, and visited our relatives to wish them a happy Eid, and we received gifts from them. We also ate the sweets that were made specially for the Eid.

Eid al-Adha is an opportunity for everyone to feel happy and help each other. Eid al-Adha is one of my favorite occasions because it encourages us to help those in need, and it reminds us of the positive values that we have to keep in our lives.
