Global Warming

Summer is school vacation time. But the extreme temperatures prevent us from enjoying it. Because of that, I wanted to know why. I searched on the internet, and found out that the reason is global warming. In this essay, I will talk about the results I found. In addition to solutions to counter this phenomenon.

Global warming is a long-term increase in temperature of the Earth's surface. This phenomenon is also known as a rise in temperature all over the world. The world is suffering from global warming due to the high levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. These gases are emitted by harmful human activities. When they gather in the atmosphere, they trap the sun's heat in the planet, and prevent it from escaping. Examples of greenhouse gases are: carbon dioxide, ozone, nitrous oxide, and methane. On the other hand, examples of activities that cause global warming include: burning fossil fuels to generate energy, industrial activities, raising livestock, heating and cooling homes. Other reasons that contribute to this phenomenon are cutting trees, which absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and purify the air. In addition to the use of transportation that produces toxic emissions. Increased temperature is not the only effect of global warming. It also causes sea level rise, droughts, heat waves, drinking water shortages, wildfires, and famines. Global warming also threatens the existence of some species. Such as: polar bear, koala, green sea turtle, sea lions, and giant panda.

We can help stop global warming in several ways. Such as: planting trees, unplugging devices when not in use, reducing the use of plastic, recycling waste, using public transportation instead of driving private cars, and using energy-saving devices. Although these solutions may seem simple, their widespread application contributes to reducing global warming and its effects. Thus, they help protect the planet and the creatures that live on it.
