Difficulties of Learning English Language
Learning English has become indispensable nowadays. English is the most spoken language in the world. When I started learning it, I faced a lot of difficulties. In this essay, I will talk about these difficulties, and how I took advantage of them to improve my English.
I faced a lot of difficulties in my journey to learn English. There were difficulties associated with the language itself. While there were other difficulties caused by wrong methods I used in learning. One of the difficulties I faced was the difficulty of English words. I encountered this problem because the English words are different from the words in my mother tongue. Moreover, I would forget the words after learning them. That was because I did not study them from time to time. One of the wrong methods that caused me difficulties was expressing my thoughts in English in a way that is similar to expressing them in my mother tongue. Because of that, some people didn't understand what I was trying to say. I also made the mistake of not learning English grammar at the beginning of my language learning journey because I didn't understand it. But, once I learned it, learning English became easier. There have been times when I was frustrated when I heard those fluent English speakers speaking it so smoothly. I used to get more frustrated when I didn't understand what they were saying. I overcame this difficulty by reminding myself that everyone was at the same level as me when they first started learning English. In addition, I made sure to practice the language with native speakers and listen to English videos on YouTube to learn new words. All these methods made me familiar with the language, and I was able to understand it and express my thoughts using it.
If I surrendered to the difficulties I faced while learning English, I would not have been able to learn it. Instead, I used them to turn my weaknesses into strengths. That experience taught me that language learning difficulties are most likely caused by wrong learning methods. When these methods are identified and addressed, the difficulties are surmounted and overcome.
