Jerash
School trips are one of my favorite extracurricular activities. They give me the opportunity to visit other cities, get to know the places there, and learn new things about them. Today, I will talk about the city of Jerash, which I went to on a school trip with my friends. I will talk about the activities we did, and the things I liked about it.
We took Jordan Street towards Jerash. I saw a lot of perennial trees on both sides of the road. I was happy because such landscapes are not common in our city. I also saw a lot of plant nurseries selling roses, fruit trees, and other plants. The teacher told us that Jerash, to which we were heading, is known for its fertile soil in which different plants and trees grow. When we arrived in Jerash, we started our journey at the city's ruins. I passed through the Arch of Hadrian that people have passed through for thousands of years. Then we went to see the lofty rocky columns, and the theaters where the Jerash Festival is held annually. I felt like I was living in the time of the Romans. We met a group of tourists. They told us that they loved the city because it combines the past and the present. We then went to Dibeen Forest Reserve, which is a popular picnic spot. I went to explore the forest with my friends, and to pick wild flowers and herbs. We sat down contemplating the nature around us, and listening to the sounds of birds. I felt inner peace and harmony with nature. After that, we went to one of the city's bazaars. We bought souvenirs and some snacks made with the olive oil that Jerash is famous for.
Next time I visit Jerash, I want to get to know its people's lifestyle. It's a unique city, and everything about it is worth a visit. I also want to go to the other cities in the north of Jordan, and see what they have in common with Jerash.
