Eid Al-Fitr

Every year, Muslims celebrate special occasions. Such as: Eid al-Adha, Mawlid al-Nabi, and Isra' and Mi'raj. Such occasions symbolize events that are related to Islam. Eid al-Fitr is also one of the most important occasions. In this essay, I will talk about it. I will also talk about how I celebrated it with my family, and what things we did.

Once Ramadan ends, Eid Al-Fitr begins. According to the Hijri calendar, Eid Al-Fitr happens to fall on the first day of Shawwal month. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated because it marks the day Muslims break their fast after Ramadan ends. The day before Eid al-Fitr, my parents went to pay Zakat al-Fitr to the poor and needy. Next day, we got up early. After the Fajr prayer, we went to one of the squares designated to perform the Eid prayer. There, we saw a lot of people we know. We greeted them, and wished each other a happy and joyful Eid. Everyone, including men, women, children, and the elderly, started the Eid takbeers. This moment is my favorite. It makes me feel so peaceful. After the Eid prayer, we went home and put on new clothes. My mother put the coffee and the maamoul cookies she had baked on the table to welcome the guests. Many relatives, neighbors, and friends visited us. They gave my siblings and me money as an Eidi, which we spent on toys and snacks. In the afternoon, I went with my family to visit our relatives, especially the elderly. They offered us tasty sweets and drinks. Everyone was happy, and they were talking about memories of Eid al-Fitr in the past, and wishing each other eternal happiness.

Eid al-Fitr is full of blessings, such as meeting our loved ones whom we have not seen for a while. Everyone feels happy on Eid al-Fitr, including the young and the old. It's a day I wish all other days were like it.
